The Vlacherna Monastery is one of the most photographed landmarks in Corfu. It appears on the cover of many travelling guides. Reaching it is fairly simple and implies crossing a small bridge. The picturesque landmark was erected in the 17th century and dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Believe it or not, it’s still in use today. Although you’re less likely to spend too much time there, it’s conveniently located close to Mouse Island, which can be visited without spending a fortune. Apart from the religious profile, the monastery is great for those who like spotting planes too.
