The Vlacherna Monastery is one of the most photographed landmarks in Corfu. It appears on the cover of many travelling guides. Reaching it is fairly simple and implies crossing a small bridge. The picturesque landmark was erected in the 17th century and dedicated to Virgin Mary. Believe it or not, it is still in use today. Although you are less likely to spend too much time in there, it is conveniently located close to the Mouse Island, which can be visited without spending a fortune. Apart from the religious profile, the monastery is great for those who like spotting planes too.
