The Pantokratoras Monastery is located on the highest point of the island – the mountain with the same name. It was originally built in 1347, but destroyed in 1537. The building you’ll admire dates back to the 17th century. While there’s some room for improvement, the monastery is impressive. You’ll admire a stone church, not to mention the inner courtyards. Make sure you bring your camera because the views over the island and the mainland are impressive. The place has a main celebration in the first week of August – that’s when tourists and pilgrims rush in.
