The Pantokratoras Monastery is located on the highest point of the island – the mountain with the same name. It was originally built in 1347, but destroyed in 1537. The building you will admire dates back to the 17th century. While there is some room for improvement, the monastery is impressive. You will admire a stone church, not to mention the inner courtyards. Make sure you bring your camera because the views over the island and the mainland are impressive. The place has a main celebration in the first week of August – that is when tourists and pilgrims rush in.
