Palies Sinies, Corfu

Palies Sinies is among the oldest settlements in Corfu. It stands close to the Pantokratoras massif. Some of the houses on site date back to the 17th century. However, the village is now a proper ghost area, as it was abandoned in the 1960s. Most residents moved to Nisaki, a modern seaside village. The once mansions of Palies Sinies are now invaded by wild vegetation, yet you can still admire the old style, not to mention finely painted churches. The area around this village is hardly accessible, as the village was built with the main purpose to defend inhabitants against pirate invasions. It is a great challenge for those who like trekking though.
