Monument Of Menekrates, Corfu

The monument of Menekrates is located in the southern part of the old town, on a road carrying the same name. It is located close to the police station in Garitsa. There used to be a cemetery in the area, but it no longer exist. The monument was built in 600BC and commemorates the death of Menekrates. The monument was uncovered in 1843. It is round and features an epigraph on top of it. It is written in an archaic language and mentions who the grave belongs too. Menekrates was an ambassador of Corfu. The monument can be visited without paying any tickets.
