Also known as the Cistern, Maitland Rotunda is a neoclassical monument located in the old town, close to Liston. Its name is self explanatory. It was built in the honour of Sir Thomas Maitland, in 1821. He came to Corfu in 1816. The structure was built out of limestone, just like the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George. It was imported from Malta, which was a British territory back then. The monument was damaged due to erosion overtime, but it was successfully restored in 2004. It can be admired in one of the James Bond films as well – For Your Eyes Only.
