The temple is located close to Paleopoli – in the southern side of the old town. There are not too many signs to indicate a temple though. Instead, archaeology enthusiasts can only admire parts of the base. The temple was raised in 590BC and it featured multiple columns – quite large and tall, but none of them can be admired today. Given the size of the altar, it must have been a massive place. A few other parts of it are kept in a local archaeological museum. The temple was discovered and revealed during the French fortification works around the island in 1812.
