Kassiopi Castle, Corfu

The Kassiopi Castle oversees the fishing village with the same name. It’s one of the three Byzantine-style castles used to defend Corfu. Its main role was to overlook the channel separating the island from the mainland. Along with a few other similar structures, the Kassiopi Castle is said to be one of the most imposing architectural buildings on the Ionian Island. The precise origins of this castle aren’t perfectly clear though, so there are no guides or notes around. It might be challenging to get up there, but it’s definitely worth it for some silence and peace, not to mention the views.
